I’m making more use of this blog as a personal Wiki, and thought that an alternative front end for editing and submitting posts might be useful. The website http://www.howtospoter.com/web-20/wordpress/4-alternative-wordpress-editors pointed me to BlogDesk. I installed this free software and restarted my PC. Under File->Manage Blogs I configure it for my www.davebartrum.wordpress.com blog. The application appears to read the proxy settings from Internet Explorer, and correctly routes traffic via my proxy. However, my proxy requires authentication and BlogDesk cannot handle the request for authentication returned by the proxy, nor can you enter basic authentication details into BlogDesk.
Instead, I move on to look at Post2Blog.
